“『キングダム・オブ・ヘブン』、194分がアッという間。
予備校に通っていたころ、講師から「モチーフを描くんじゃない、モチーフを使って空間を描くんだ」と言われた。
この映画で、とりわけ意識させられるのが、風の存在だ。静かに降る粉雪、戦いとともに舞い上がる土煙、かすかな炎のゆらめき――それらのモチーフがある方向、あらゆる方向へ運動することで、風の強さ・弱さが伝わる。
扉から差し込む強い光が、暗い室内にグラデーションをつくり出し、初めてそこに“光景”が出現する。光は、ただ光であることをやめ、“光景”の一要素となる。

あらゆるノイズが調和して、世界を育む陶酔の194分。
「この生々しい感覚、どっかで味わったよな」と思ったら、『おおかみこどもの雨と雪』であった。このアニメは、別の表現領域へ踏みこんでしまっている。
「実写に近づいた＝リアルだ」とか、そんな単純な問題ではない。「撮る」というのは、意外に不自由なことであって、先ほど例にあげたように「モチーフ」を見るのではなく「モチーフを使って描かれたもの」を、見極めなければいけない。” ■0712■: 550 miles to the Future (via neeeeeew)
