東京都奥多摩町の町道で２００３年、元飲食店従業員・古川信也さん（当時２６歳）の遺体が見つかった事件で、警視庁に殺人容疑で今月１日に逮捕された犯行当時１９歳の女（２８）が潜伏先の南アフリカで、サッカー・ワールドカップ（Ｗ杯）南アフリカ大会の日本人サポーターを狙った詐欺事件に関与していた疑いがあることが捜査関係者への取材でわかった。

計１００人以上が被害に遭い、被害総額は約１億円に上るといい、警視庁は女から詐欺の疑いでも事情を聞く方針。

捜査関係者によると、昨年開催されたサッカーＷ杯南アフリカ大会を巡っては、「Ｔｏｅｒ　Ａｆｒｉｋａ」（ツールアフリカ）を名乗る業者がインターネット上にサイトを開設し、２００９年１２月頃から、個人旅行者向けに、南ア国内での宿泊やスタジアムまでの送迎などを手配すると宣伝。メールで申し込んできた客に代金として数万円～百数十万円を日本国内の口座に振り込ませた。
